| Borderless Order Entry
System
(BOES)
|
Recent publications and industry news seems to indicate
that the computer world and e-commerce firms are finally catching up to the
foresight of DE Technologies, Inc. founders, Mr. Ed Pool and Mr. Doug Mauer.
Several years ago the two founders set off on a journey to digitize the
international business transaction so that companies or individuals located
across political boundaries could use the Internet to buy and sell directly to one
another . The task was quite difficult considering all of the variables and
data bases that would be necessary to calculate not only the landed prices but
VAT taxes, import duties or other local taxes so the buyer could have a true
transaction price. (See Example)
The successful building of such a system would be a first in the history of
human commerce. Direct commerce between parties of great distances and global
pedigrees had always occurred previously by the utilization of distribution
service firms, exporters, importers or combinations of them. Direct Internet
sales will eventually provide a highly efficient means to market goods and
services at a producer's maximum profitability while affording the buyer the
least amount of cost.
The final product that delivered this powerful technology was designated
BOES or "Borderless Order Entry
Systems" and the founders promptly filed for intellectual property
protection with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It is the
position of the founders that only BOES
technology should become the foundation cornerstone for any digital system
that engages in global commerce and that the inventors should be able to
enforce the protection of the system's capabilities and royalty/licensing fees
via the patent laws of the United States Government.
This is indeed significant technology that offers enormous financial
rewards and whose time has finally arrived. We encourage all organizations who
are involved in building global e-commerce systems or producers who wish to
direct sell to businesses or consumers to contact us to negotiate licensing
and system management fees.

Information
Technology and International Trade Position Paper (298k)
- This paper summarizes the requirements for international trade and outlines how
BOES significantly streamlines international transactions through a standard digitized mechanism for trade.
BOES
Patentability
Paper (144k)-
The purpose of this position paper is to explain, first, that the BOES technology falls within the scope of inventions that are protected by U.S. patent laws, and, second, that the BOES invention deserves such protection.
Security
and International Trade Position Paper (123kb)
- This paper examines how the patent recently awarded to DE Technologies for
BOES can help the U.S. government meet its security goals by enabling the creation of a standard e-commerce solution for international trade.
| Electronic Commerce Backbone System
(ECBS)
|
In 1998 for the United States Foreign
Commercial Service contracted with DE Technologies to create a model tool to
aid in their efforts to help the SMEs bring their goods and services to
export. The tool was a success but has yet to implement in the government
sector. Utilizing BOES
concepts, the Electronic Commerce Backbone System (ECBS)
is a new service that brings to the commercial sector enhancements based on
the "model" project.
ECBS is an Internet/Intranet based
international transaction system that allows small and medium sized
enterprises (SMEs) to automatically export goods and services without the need
for prior exporting experience. ECBS digitizes the integrated export
transaction thereby eliminating the need for: independent freight forwarding
systems, export and import brokers, international consultants, and multi level
distribution systems. ECBS reduces the costs of ocean and air freight
services, banking services, and human resources.
SMEs become members by paying a small membership fee
which affords them access to the system. The transactional fees are
less than 1%. This capability will allow thousands SMEs to
compete effectively in the Import/Export business with "The Big
Guys" as the barriers to entry will be lowered tremendously.
ECBS technology features allow buyers/sellers to:
- Purchase products in the currency of the
destination country.
- View product descriptions in the language of the
destination country.
- View digital still or motion video displays of sellers
products.
- View auto calculation and price displays for Free
Alongside Ship (FAS), Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF) and Delivered Duty
Paid (DDP). Features apply to air, land and sea modes of
transportation.
- Ensure direct payment of goods via standard electronic
methods (phase 1) and via electronic documentary credits (phase2).
Benefits to U.S. companies include:
- Electronic preparation, filing and forwarding of export documentation utilizing
Harmonized Tariff Schedule
scheduling information.
- Consolidation and leveraging of system freight volumes to reduce carriage charges.
- Establishment of merchant account numbers for Internet based card not present
transactions. (For credit card direct consumer sales, phase 1) where
necessary, and letters of credit implementation where appropriate (B2B
transactions).
- Digitalization of product photographic representations in either still or video formats.
- Reduction in banking charges for documentary credit (phase 2) and credit card
transactions.
- Low cost marketing for U.S. exporters to test product acceptability in foreign markets.
- Accelerated new product market introduction.
- Increased profitability by eliminating complex intermediary transaction steps and
minimization of multi-tier distribution channels.
- Increased efficiency in transaction orders and payment settlement.
- Single site URL location for participating U.S. exporter products and services.
- Increased market exposure via traditional advertising venues created by the pooling of
client resources.
ECBS is a fully automated system which offers a virtually hands free
exporting mechanism. ECBS system administrators provide the liaison with a
merchant bank to establish merchant account numbers for qualifying
participants. Clients are required to fill out forms for review by a merchant
banking operation to establish credit worthiness. Clients will provide boxed
(ready for export) product shipping dimensions in order for the auto
calculating freight database to compute international shipping charges. ECBS
system administrators will work one on one with clients to establish other
shipping variables such as container loads, full, less than full or reefer
loads. Clients will also provide a text product description 200 words or less
plus a high quality digital or still photographic product representation. In
the event digital images are unavailable, system administrators can provide a
scanning service at a nominal fee.
There is complete B2B transactional ability in this system as well.
